Young Zimbabwean girl representing hope and future potential through IAPZ initiatives
OUR STORY EST. 2015

It began with a belief in what young Zimbabweans could become.

IAPZ was formed in 2015 in response to the lack of opportunities for many young Zimbabweans to realise their potential.

THE BEGINNING

A response to a challenge.
A belief in possibility.

In 2015, IAPZ emerged from a concern that too many young Zimbabweans were facing limited opportunities to develop their potential and shape their futures.

The organisation was established around the belief that poverty cannot be addressed only by responding to immediate need.

People also need opportunity.

They need access to knowledge.

They need practical skills.

They need pathways to livelihoods.

And they need the space to participate in the development of their own communities.

Opportunity is more than a possibility. It is a pathway.

From its beginning, IAPZ has been shaped by the idea that communities and individuals can build stronger futures when they have access to practical opportunities, knowledge, skills and support.

MILESTONE 01

2015 — The Beginning

IAPZ is formed in response to the lack of opportunities for many young Zimbabweans to realise their potential. Established with a core conviction that structured mentorship, community empowerment, and practical enterprise can transform futures across Zimbabwe.

As the challenges evolved,
so did the response.

The organisation's journey has increasingly recognised that poverty is interconnected.

  • Education affects opportunity.
  • Skills affect livelihoods.
  • Food security affects household resilience.
  • Environmental sustainability affects long-term wellbeing.
  • Youth development influences future possibilities.
  • Community participation strengthens ownership.

This understanding has shaped the evolution of IAPZ's programmes.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE STORY

Development works best when people are part of it.

Throughout its journey, IAPZ has sought to place people and communities at the centre of development.

The organisation's work reflects an approach that values local knowledge, participation, practical action and the ability of communities to influence their own development.

A CONTINUING PRIORITY

When opportunity reaches a young person, the possibilities multiply.

Youth development, and particularly the girl child, remains an important part of IAPZ's broader social-enterprise vision.

THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

The story is still being written.

Since 2015, the central idea behind IAPZ has remained rooted in opportunity. As Zimbabwe's communities face new challenges and new possibilities, the organisation continues to explore practical approaches that connect people with knowledge, skills, enterprise, resilience and meaningful participation.

THE FUTURE

We started with a question:

What becomes possible when people have the opportunity to realise their potential?

The IAPZ story continues to explore that possibility — one community, one initiative and one opportunity at a time.
